Funniest thing happened.

My brake booster has always been bad. Brakes were never very good. Finally they got to the point where I had to stomp on the pedal to slow down just a little. So I went and bought a new booster. Brakes are sweet now, and my lockup converter is working in my 700R4. I have done everything I could think of to get the lockup to work and it never did. I finally gave up on it and all of a sudden it works because I got my vacuum back. I pulled 14.16 mpg today going 65 for 72 miles and 75 for 32 miles bucking a strong wind. I have to switch from manifold to port vacuum though I think.

vacuum switch for the lockup converter. It locks up immediately when it hits 4th gear and doesn't lockup in 3rd, so I think the vacuum might be screwing it up.

Did you add a stock unit or from a later model Chevy? Are you running discs? Sounds like you can actually run and stop now; Definately always good to stop.

If you have the 4th gear pressure switch wired in, you won't get it to lock up anywhere other than 4th gear.

Yep if the booster is leaking bad you will have a huge vacuum leak. Causes bad idol and can make some engines run so lean that you will burn valves, destroy pistons etc.
