window regulators

Is it true that the window regulators are different for a 72 than 67-71's? I saw that somewhere and now I'm curious. So a regulator for a 72 won't fit my 70? What's up with that?

Re: window regulators

It would fit, but the part that sticks through the door panel is longer. The 72 has a different door panel, all the other years have a flat door panel. the 72 is raised.

Re: window regulators

So is the outer shell of the 72door the same or is it different as well?

Re: window regulators

The only difference in the outer shell is that they have a bolt through them up near the wing window. I helps with the stess of the door flexing then cracking, I think.

Re: window regulators

Heres a pic of my 67 door with 72 panels. I had to put 72 regulators (door and window) in the door to make them work. I also put screws in the panels. I bought new doors from Goodmark (72 style) and they have a dimple for a screw in the area I circled in red. 72 doors (I think, I haven't had my doors side by side yet) have extra circles cut out around the edge of the panel area for the plastic clips on '72 panels. I also have '72 wing windows in my 67 doors so I'll soon have all '72 stuff in a '72 door. It all interchanges with a little work
