3rd Brake Light

Thought I'd take a break from the body work on the truck, and fab. the 3rd LED brake light.

I'll go into detail later if there is an interest......

Re: 3rd Brake Light

Looks cool Steve. Maybe that guy you work with could trace the outline onto a piece of stainless, drill 2 holes in it and make a top plate for it.

Re: 3rd Brake Light

A few years ago I took a stock cargo light and made it into a combo cargo light/third brake light. I used crappy lights from Radio Shack instead of LEDs though. If I ever get around to mounting it on a cab I'll probably redo it properly. I liked the fact that I kept it stock looking and you could never tell untill the brakes are hit. It lights up much better than what the pic showes.

Re: 3rd Brake Light

I've been contemplating which route I wanted to go with a cargo/3rd brake light. I spent some time in the local junk yard measuring lights from different trucks and I found what I was looking for in the grocery store parking lot. Parked next to me was an 03 Chevy Colorado. The 3rd brake light/ cargo light seemed to be the perfect shape for my 67 small back window. I have found them on the net at junk yards for $20 plus shipping. When I get one and do the install, I'll post pictures.

Re: 3rd Brake Light

I like the looks of that, great job. I lack the creative talent that it takes to make one so we used one from a '01 silverado.

Re: 3rd Brake Light

I think early classic enterprise makes a kit for a stock cargo light to work as a cargo light/3rd brake light.

WHEW BOY! I just looked it up, the kit is $109!!!!

Looks good, I've thought about adding one.

Re: 3rd Brake Light

That's why I checked Whitney. It just cost $15.00 + shipping. Didn't want to spend a lot, and then find out I didn't want it. Anyway, I wanted to put something there other than the cargo light. I don't care too much for those "Big" original lights.....

Re: 3rd Brake Light

i used an '01 superduty (or ranger/mazda/etc.) i love it, contour is about perfect, but positions the light just a tick above the middle of the space between the window and top of the roof. but it looks good! it's a 3rd brake light/cargo combo
