2007 Front end

Sorry if this has already be posted, but can anyone else see the similarity between the 2007 and the 1967/1968 grills. I think its kinda strange how they bring back these designs in a new vehicle.

I haven't seen pics of the 07's yet. Where could I find 'em?

Re: 2007 Front end

Have you not seen the front end of a 99-02 HD truck and the hood on all '06 trucks? There's a lot of cues from the older trucks on the 99-02's.

There aren't any yet. GM is keeping it tight under wraps, but the tahoe, suburban, and avalanche have all been released and all have the same front end. With GM trying to cut costs that would lead one to assume that the new trucks would share the same front end as the aformentioned vehicles.

Re: 2007 Front end

I don't see much similar myself other than the bar across the center of the grille, but even my 93 has that.
Then again, I'm not that familiar with the 67-8's either.

Re: 2007 Front end

I like new grille and updated styling. I saw the new Escalayed at the Portland auto show, it is also very cool, same theme.

I think this new Chevy front more closely matches the latest Fords though, and that can't be good

Re: 2007 Front end

I think its a stretch.....I do agree, 99-02 HD are the best blend of new and old, I always thought that they looked very similar to the 69-72 front end....but I have always been a sucker for the original....that and unless gas spikes a bit more.....affording a 4 year old HD is not in the cards at the moment.....

Re: 2007 Front end

i agree gregfull i have thought that for awhile now the thick front of the hood and grill itself (plastic insert) remind me of my 72 but the cross bar reminds me of a 67-68. i am glad i wasnt the only one noticing it. i even saw a new truck at the dealer that looked like they brought back the light/medium blue color from the 72's

Ha, I see something different. I think they are bringing back the 1984 camaro with all the D**m plastic. I prefer chrome or painted bumpers. Looks like 80's plastic all over again.

I see it. Actually the first time I saw the new grill I thought 67-68 grill. Maybe it's because I like them both...

I never understood why they took the decent looking 99-02 front and messed it up either. I was told at dealerships that the reason the yukon and suburban never got that front sheetmetal was because of the complaints on the trucks. Also a Oklahoma dealership that was selling chevy and gmc were selling trucks, GMC 4 or 5 to one and marking them up $1500 more than the Chevy. At least the 06' has a bulge in the hood and grille is better , stil not as attractive as 02'. I will be looking for a clean 02' for a daily driver with in the year for this reason.
Best compromise would be the newer drivetrain and older truck!
