Console Types: Seat Belt or Cup Holders - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 70 CST with buckets and a console. The console has the seat belt holders which I didn't ever use and I suspect I won't use them when I am done with my truck. I noticed some exact style consoles with the cup holders instead of the sealt belt holders. Can anyone tell me what trucks that console type came in and if I can convert my console to the cup holder style.

i don't know that your console can be converted, but you surley can swap it out no problem. The cup holder ones came in 76 (ish) to 87 trucks and up to I think 90 or so on the blazers...the later ones may have chainged a little, but they stayed basicly the same.
You could sell yours and get a cup style and have some money left over since yours is worth more than the later ones.

YOU CAN CONVERT YOURS TO THE CUPHOLDER STYLE BY REPLACING THE TOP HALF OF YOUR CONSOLE WITH THE LATER MODEL CUP HOLDER STYLE. THE SEAT BELT HOLDER POCKETS ARE MOLDED IN, BUT THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE BOX, THE LID, & THE CHROME TRIM ARE THE SAME. AS FAR AS THE WORTH?? I'VE SOLD AT LEAST 20 REFURBISHED CONSOLES ON EBAY & THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE IN PRICE. AS A MATTER OF FACT 95% OF THE PEOPLE PREFER THE CUP HOLDER STYLE. I HAVE ABOUT A DOZEN CONSOLES THAT ARE IN DIFFERENT STAGES OF REFUBISHING. THEY SELL FOR ANYWHERE FROM $150 TO $250. HOPE THIS HELPS. JOHN

I stand corrected. I was under the impression that the seat belt ones were in higher demand.
I have cup holders, and I too prefer them. My seat belt is in my lap, I just needed a place for my can of dew.

THAT SEEMS TO BE MOST PEOPLES PREFERANCE ALSO. IF SOMEONE WAS DOING A 100 POINT CONCOURSE RESTORATION, THEY WOULD WANT THE SEAT BELT STYLE BUT MOST PEOPLE WANT A PLACE TO PUT THEY'RE SODA OR BOTTLE OF WATER. MOST PEOPLE JUST WANT A COMFORTABLE, DEPENDABLE, USABLE, DAILY DRIVER.
