What tire should I buy
I am currently running CO-OP 7.00x15LT Mud and Snow tires that I think were purchased in the 70s. They hold air and get me to work every day (5 blocks) They are weather checked and very rough and bumpy on the trip to Wal-Mart.
I would like to put on a taller tire, but would like to keep it as narrow as possible. I've looked a little at Yokohama Geolander A/T 235/85 R15, and 215/75 R15. I'd like to have a fairly agressive tread and still run on the highway Currently my tire is 27" tall. Would I be able to fit a 30 or 31 without any lift? What brands would you suggest? I'm like everyone else in that I have to keep a pretty tight budget. $80-100 per tire. Thanks in advance.

Re: What tire should I buy
Anybody?
Any suggestions at all? I've been through the tire fitment thread, but my truck is not lowered or 2WD. Some of you have to be driving 4x4s that don't have swampers on them.

Try Buckshot Mudders. Pretty close to the Co-op.

Re: What tire should I buy
On a 4wd you should be able fit 33's with out any problem. I had 31x10.5 on my 2wd for years with plenty of room. I've seen 33x12.5 on 2wd a few times too, that looks a little tight. Of course bigger means $$$. I think 235/70 sound like sortof what fits your requirements.

Look at a 30 x 9.50 - 15. I replaced my 235's with them and love em.

Re: What tire should I buy
I have 31 x 10.5 BFG Long Trails on my 2wd with no clearance problems at all, much smoother than the no name AT's that the previous owner had on there.

Re: What tire should I buy
Actually, mine are on a 2wd. Since you have a 4x4 I think you will be happier if you go with the 31 x 10.050 - 15's. Especially if you have 3.73 gears. They will pull the bigger tires easy.

Re: What tire should I buy
I think you are looking for 10.50/31s,too.That`s what is on ZR2s if you want to look around to get a look,BFG A/Ts.They make a 9.50/33x15 that would go on there, too.I used to run those CO-OP 9.00x16 Grip Spurs. They were just like Mudders and soft like a tractor tire.I was lucky to get 15,000 miles out of them.

Re: What tire should I buy
If you want to go tall but thin you can get a 31x9.5 and I think you can get a 33x9.5 too. you can check with tirerack.com but to go tall and thin you might have to go to like Micky Thompson or a simaler brand. I was just reading somewere that thiner in better in snow, go figure. Good luck

Re: What tire should I buy
Here are some pics of the Yokohama's I have on my S-10. They seem very smooth and comfortable. I do 99.9% on road driving and yet they seem to get plenty of traction in mud and soft dirt, but I'm no expert on that. I'll probably take them off when I sell the truck and use them as winter tires on my low rider, lol.

Re: What tire should I buy
I see a lot of people here using SAVEROs mud tires which is the BFG cheaper brand, also see them using Hancook tires too. I see some cooper tires too.

Re: What tire should I buy
The Yok's are a good tire and they have some very agressive tread designs if you are looking for the comparable tread to what you have. You could also look for those military tires, they have the rib design and are tall and skinny.

That's a good question, I was just offering another thought. I am not into skinny tires so I am not too sure of the diameters, somebody will know what is available. |

Maybe you should look for some good used tires. If you only drive that amount or not many miles(5k or under) per year new tires will dry rot before you ever wear them out. Looks the case with what you have. |

Re: What tire should I buy
The 10" tires are too wide. For my 52 I switched to 16" rims. The tallest and narrowest tire I could find was a 7.50R16. 31.8 tall and 8.7 wide. Daytona Radial Stag, a traction tire, 8 ply.
