Got my FREE 700r4 today!!

One of my mechanic friends here in town has two 80's Caprice's on the side of his shop. One's an 87 and the other is an old cop car with the 350 roller in it. Well, the 87's motor is locked up so he hooked up his tow truck to it and pulled it around to one of his bays and we yanked it out. After we pulled it out I asked him what I owed him and he told me nothing. I told him I would at least give him the TH350 in my truck when I get it out. He let me have the driveshaft, converter, and all. I even grabbed the flip down license plate mechanism in case I ever do a hidden hitch.

I immediatley brought it over to the tranny shop to have it rebuilt. I know about the 700r4 FAQ so I will try not to ask anything that I can't get answered in that thread. One question I did have is could I use the driveshaft out of the caprice. Only reason I ask is that I could go ahead and take it to a shop and have it cut.

I do not fall into free stuff very offten. That is one good deal. Do not know about the drive shaft. But I do know the 700R4 takes a little shorter shaft than the 350. Let us know how it turns out.

I'll give you double what you have in it before rebuilding it if you pay for shipping!!! free is the best you can do, unless of course someone pays you to take it Hint Hint

The only thing I see on the driveshaft is the u-joints might be smaller on the car than for your truck. That's not for sure though. Make sure you get the tv cable bracket from the caprice and congrats on the freebie, an 87 is one of the better years.
