i bought matt67350's 67 swb stepside thursday night, 350/700r4 w/power steering/disk brakes. I got it home and have been working on it some today.. have some questions, how far can the rear be lowered before i need to relocate the shocks and use a different size track bar, i was also thinking of going w/the classic performer 4" heavy duty rear springs, i'll do some light towing w/the truck, anyone have feedback on those springs? the second question is whats the best/most cost effective way to relocate the gas tank, i saw kenny's truck has a relocate kit, he's only 2 hours from my house.. but does that use a blazer fuel cell, and if so does it hang down very far in the rear? also i'll be lowering the front 2-3", do lowering coils ride very nice on these trucks? thats all i can think of for now... your input is appreciated

I believe Kenny's kit is using the aftermarket blazer tanks. If you are just thinking of around a 2" drop, I would used the dropped spindles and keep the springs and shocks stock. makes it a little easier.

Honestly, I don't know about lowered trucks and towing. Most folks I know that have lowered working trucks use bags so you can adjust the ride height according to the load.

Kenny is a super good guy. I wish he was that close to me. I have only had a chance to meet and talk to him once a year (except this one,...Dang Katrina) during our Crusin the Coast Show. Very Kniowledgable and very helpful. he loves these trucks and loves to talk to tthe folks who work on them.

BTW, a SWB is not the smoothest rie in the world, stock or lowered, with HD springs. I honestly have not see much difference in the ride between the two.

thanks, kenny was super helpful yesterday, i stopped in decatur tx, at the swap meet.. got in and out in 30 minutes w/90% of the interior pieces, i bought some seats out of a 04' silverado, they're big.. its going to be a tight fit, now just trying to get a lot of sanding out of the way.. get it ready for paint, the body was in fantastic shape, just a few small dings that need to be addressed, other than that it should be semi-smooth sailing, please keep all info you can think of coming, im getting lost in everything to do, thanks guys

here are the things i need to know:
back suspension, how low before i need a shock relocate kit
surface rust/paint... it has some mild surface rust, i've gotten most of it off w/a scotch brite pad, do i need to take everything down to bare metal before primering, or can there be remnints of older colors/paint
how do i get the dash pad off, it is glued on the top.. i've taken all of the screws out on the front, but it wont budge, just cracks when i pull on it, is it glued to the top of the dash??

dash pad has the screws in front and studs going into the dash. take the nuts off. i say it like it's easy, i had the same question taking mine off, and the 2 end ones are a tight fit.
