crossmember
I am going to put an automatic in my 68 shortbed in place of the 3 speed manual it has in it now. I am going to need a crossmember. The 3 speed attaches to the bellhousing and the tail of the tranny just kinda hangs out there. Does anyone know if a crossmember from a later year truck will work or does it have to be a 67 - 72 auto crossmember?
Thanks,

I have a cross member from a 72. It had a 350TH and is a short hump cab. I belieave the going price is $50 plus shipping.
Let me know if you want it.

I think it all depends on what tranny your going to use. The 700R4 is different from the 350 which is different from the 400. I think, may be wrong, but you can probably make a crossmember from a later model, up to 87, work in your truck. Something else you might want to think about is the hump in your cab. There were short humps and tall humps. I do not know the difference but I have heard that there might be a problem with contact if you own a short hump.
