Accel points
Anyone ever used the Accel points and condenser? (I know I should switch to HEI) I am going to tune up my truck and I was wondering if they would be a better choice than a stock set. The catalog says they have a better rubbing block and the condenser is better (don't remember why). I already have an Accel super coil.

There all about the same, maybe a bit more heavy duty but still points are points. If you have a good distributor, why not go with Pertronixs set up. I put mine in 4 yr's ago and have never had to look at it since. lots of guys have gone to them and not a bad word in the bunch.

I 2nd that,I am glad not to mess with points anymore! I f you do use the Accel, they have a set with 32oz spring that is good for a few rpms before bounce(stock set has a 23 oz spring). Good luck.......69 longhorn.

Go with the 32 oz. I've run them on my 70 for years. Get the cap and rotor too. I've turned over 8000 rpm several times. Worth their weight in gold. The contacts are thick enough to file a couple times too.

Thanks for the info. I had already planned on upgrading to the Pertronix Ignitor II when I get the extra money. Right now I just wanted to get something a little more dependable. I have to keep adjusting my dwell for some reason. I put it at 28 about a month ago then had to reset it again about a week ago, as it was back up to 30. (truck runs better at 28) Points are only about a year old. I've probably only put about 4000 miles on the truck since I put them in.
