81 1/2 long bed weight

Anybody know what an 81 1/2 long bed weights? I am buying one this week that needs to be towed home and would like to save on wrecker fees if possible.

2 or 4 wheel drive? 6 or 8 cylinder? HD or standard suspension?

Re: 81 1/2 long bed weight

I don't have a '81 book, but have a '76 book...here are the specs for base 1/2 ton (non HD suspension).

2wd/6=3785
2wd/8=3935

4wd/6=4261
4wd/8=4415

Your 81 should be slightly lighter than the 76 models.

Re: 81 1/2 long bed weight

I've read when they redid the nose of the chevy truck in 81' it was supposed to drop the weight by 300-400 lbs or something like that. But I know by parting these trucks out and repairing them there's not that much in weight between the front clips. Maybe they saved some lbs. in other places too.
