700r4 performance
this is the 1st time i have owned a vehicle with a 700r4, i have had several th350's and th400's. i really like this tranny. it's no borg warner t-5, but i love it anyway. i've been shameing beemers, camaros, and everything else that tries to run with me. i've never had so much fun. i probably won't get more than 50000 miles out of it, i keep hearing odd chirping noises in reverse and under hard acceleration. i didn't expect much from this one because i assembled it in my basement. i know i missed something, my next one will be built bulletproof. i just wanted to offer up an opinion.
btw, the tv cable setup i got from bowtie overdrives is great, i'm very satisfied with their kit. after 2 weeks of fiddling with my tv setup from the donor truck, i was dialed in the day after i got the bto kit. |

Re: 700r4 performance
If you havent replaced your U-Joints that might be a good idea, they do chirp like a little birdie and not just clunck when you put it in gear. Usually the chirping is due to dried out ujoints wanting to freeze up.

Re: 700r4 performance
I too have a 700r4 that I dropped over $1500, and I love it. I am going for the T5 and LT1 in my 70rsss Camaro. Stock is boring. I could understand keeping a Hemi Cuda bone stock, but my Camaro as rare as it is (one of appox 5k) is still worth more upgraded. I'll keep the original numbers matching 350 w/4-speed, but I want to drive it and have fun!! Do what you want cause even a stock restored 2wd Blazer isn't worth a ton and the upgrades will bring up the value.

when i do put the three speed back in there im thinking about a gear vendor to keep my rpm's down when it comes to starting, steering, and stopping i like to upgrade as long as no cutting is involved. power steering, power disk brakes, and overdrive are required on anything built to drive. c-notching the frame, tubbing the bed, and bagging them are what i was complaining about. a real chevy doesn't slow down for speed bumps i.m.o. anyway. 13lazer |
