Re: need help IDing rear end

It looks like a dana, open diff. ( Not posi ) If it's a rear end 8 lug it's probably a dana 60. If it's a front end it could be either a 60 or a 44. There will be numbers on the opposite side of the diff. case shown in the pic. ( 44F or 60 )

Re: need help IDing rear end

I'm sure it's a dana 60 amd it is the rear, I jacked up the truck had all 4s in the air and when I spun the tires they turn in the same direction on front and rear, my thought was if they do that you have posi or locker but I have no clue about axles of Diffs.

Re: need help IDing rear end

Both tires spinning in the same direction would be a possible indication of a posi, but the pic dosen't indicate that. Are there any clutch disks inside the ring gear ??? or just another side gear ???

Re: need help IDing rear end

I don't remember the Diff is all back together now it must be posi cause if I do a burnout, short one with 35"s, it does spin both tiresand it will kick the truck sideways.
