Re: 1/2 ton to either 3/4 or 1 ton swap
the best would be a d60 front and 14bolt ff rear out of a one ton. a more cost effective swap would be an 8 lug 10 bolt front and a 14bolt ff rear out of a 3/4 ton. the 3/4 ton stuff is a direct bolt in. for the one ton stuff youll have to relocate the spring perches on the rear..the one ton frames are narrower i think..maybe wider...either way a 1 ton 14boltff has the perches 2-3 inches in or out from where they are on a 3/4 ton

Re: 1/2 ton to either 3/4 or 1 ton swap
3/4 ton 14bolt full floater....BOLT IN. Simply the best/beefy axle you could put in there for the rear axle. Front would be a Dana 60. Stock in K30's but you also need to get the spring plates with the axle because they are different than the 1/2 and 3/4 ton stuff. Oh and stick with the single rear wheel width stuff (front and rear) unless you want to run H1 beadlocks. The dually front axle has a different front track width (hubs out). 1 ton 14 bolts have the spring mounts in a different spot than the 1/2 and 3/4 tons so unless you want to burn new mounts on find a 3/4 ton version. Both 3/4 and 1 ton full floater 14 bolts are 10.5" ring gears and are virtually identicle (except for the spring mounts)....3/4 ton 14's are just easier to swap.

I know the 14bolt ff axle needs the spring perches moved, but can anyone shed some light on what you have to do to put a srw d60 into the front of your truck (specifically a 70 K20?)

Unbolt yours, and bolt the 60 in. I had an 84 3/4 that I put a 60 in, and everything bolted in. As stated above, you will need the spring plates, the pass side is differnet. If anybody wants a 60, got 1 for sale.
