Shortening wheelbase?

I am sure this has been covered about a hundred times, but I got nothing when I searched it. Does anyone no where the cuts must be made on a long bed stepside to convert to a shortbed fleetside? I had a Streetrucks mag that covered it, but I can't seem to find it. Maybe someone could mesure the mounting holes for me on a swb so I can figure it out. Or another site that goes into detail about it.

Re: Shortening wheelbase?

You need to remove 12" between the front and rear cab mounts, then move the rear cab mounts back 12". You also need to remove 8" from the rear of the frame.

Re: Shortening wheelbase?

I agree with Northcountry but what I did was measure and mark everything before I made the cuts, take notes, make marks, etc. Then, once I had it welded back up, use the same measurements just to be sure.

Re: Shortening wheelbase?

Guys thanks for the replies. I feel dumb that I did not see it there before. I feel like this mod is not that big of a deal and can't wait to do it.
