So my trucks been lowered by a PO. I have no idea what the spring rate is, but it's pretty soft.

I don't haul heavy loads often, but I'd hate go pick up some concrete and be riding on the the bumpstops.

I think AirBags would be best, but I'm trying keep this cheap and the truck needs new rear shocks anyway. So I was thinking AirShocks might work if I keep them soft and air up I need the extra capacity.

Are the mounting points strong enough to handle being loaded? What do you think?

Overload springs would be an option. Or coilspring shocks.

Air shocks worked ok in el caminos. They would haul a good load when aired to max.

my .02 I think air shocks stiffen the ride too much. I've had some in a couple of cars, never cared for the results. Good coilover shocks would be the way to go IMO. NAPA set me up with a pair that worked well.

I have access to a set of bags that go inside the rear coils. If you are interested, let me know and I will try to get them from my buddy (he is never going to use them). Can have them for you to check out when you come over to help me cut up that cab...

Coil overs or air shocks aren't a real good idea, the mounting points are too weak on these trucks.

That would be cool if you can get ahold of them by Saturday when I come up there. I would definitely prefer bags. I was just looking for a cheap way out. How much do you want for them? Are these bags made for the C10 coils specifically?

Whether the shock mount points were strong enough or not is what I was looking for.

I was kinda hoping for some first-hand experience responses like, "I cracked the shock mounts on mine". Or, "I've been using them for three years and no problems yet.

I have installed Air shocks on my K20 Dumper after I cracked both rear leafs hauling wet dirt loads. They work great and the total cost was less than $50. Just bleed them down when you not using them for hauling.

i actually like having about 50-60 psi in the rear shock .. even with no load .... i've been told its not good to ever run them below 15 psi ... hard on the shock i guess

The shock mounts are just designed to withstand the shock absorber forces, not support the weight of the truck's load.

I've seen plenty of 67-72 trucks with torn off lower shock studs.
