Its Alive!!!!!
I started and broke in the engine on the Blazer tonight!!!! It started up almost immediately, and ran great! I'm so stoked! Only problem I had was a little gas leak and after running it, I tried to install my front driveshaft and the u-joint is hitting the bolt inside the union on the transfer case. Anyone running a rockwell 220 have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Here's a couple of pics of the engine set up to run!

Re: Its Alive!!!!!
If I can get these driveshafts figured out, it'll be on the road before summer! I can't wait to drive this thing. 4 years of waiting is almost over! Jeff.

Re: Its Alive!!!!!
Awesome, Red! That's gotta put a smile on your face! Lookin good.
You'll get that driveshaft figured out. Is it the same setup you took out, or did you swap something else in it's place?

Re: Its Alive!!!!!
homi, I'm going to paint it eventually, 2003 Chevy Indigo Blue. Not quite that far along yet.
71, I swapped from 3 on the tree to 4 in the floor with a Rockwell T221 transfer case. Had to get a different front driveshaft for it, and thats where my problem lies. Thanks, Jeff.

Re: Its Alive!!!!!
Wow, that just looks fantastic! Nice looking stock engine with a few modern upgrades. Is it stock under the stock paint and covers?
What engine paint did you use? Very cool! |

Re: Its Alive!!!!!
Thanks, the paint is cheap rattle can from Napa and it doesn't stand up to gasoline very well. The engine is bone stock and the only upgrade there is the HEI. Even the alternator is the old unregulated one off my 71! Works great!

Did you rebuild the motor or just clean and paint?

Re: Its Alive!!!!!
The motor is a 77 block that was in the back when I bought it non-running. Had it cleaned, honed and checked and then rebuilt it. Like I said, only addition is the HEI out of the 77. Yukon, sent you another pm, I'm still flabbergasted on it as well. Thanks, Jeff.

Re: Its Alive!!!!!
RED71blazer, Momma says the part number is 7368. I didn't have any trouble at all getting it at Napa. They gave me the right hoses the first time. The belts were another story. Jeff.

Re: Its Alive!!!!!
I finally just ended up measuring the distance around and went that route. The water pump/alternator belt was a 52" and the power steering one was 35. Tried two different sizes until I found the one I liked best. Jeff.
