I was just given a 84 1/2ton 4X4 from my father in law who bought it new and it has 219,000 on it and it runs fine. I had to put a new power booster on it last night and got to drive it for the first time. Seems to have decent power but I only drove up the stret and back and it was at night so I don`t know if it smokes or not but it was free.

Re: Most miles you had on your Suburban?

1987 Silverado. I bought it with 139,000 miles about 10 years ago. At 200,000 miles it was stolen here in Atlanta and was missing for 3 months. It actually made one of those police chase videos on TV...WOW. It now has 300,000 miles on it and the engine has still not been opened. The first owner was a tournament fisherman and pulled a bass baot up and down the California coast. Between the bass boat and the hoodlems she has needed 2 transmisions and 1 rear end and I had to re-do the complete brake system after the police chase. I figure about 100k more miles and she might earn a new crate engine!?!?!?!

Re: Most miles you had on your Suburban?

89 GMC burb with 424,000 km on her…. Engine runs awesome never rebuilt … and it drives like a bad out of hell!!! It’s on it’s 2nd or 3rd tranny, but my Dad use to tow hard with it. The body is showing its age as GMC paint jobs at that time never lasted to long up here and with that comes rust and lots of it …. I tell everyone that those are speed holes, it makes less wind resistance. And the dents in the body are engineered like the little dents in a golf ball to make it go farther! All in all I figure its still got a good 100,000km left

Re: Most miles you had on your Suburban?

my 86 suburban had 365 thousand original miles before i did a thing to the engine and the only reason i did replace it then was the tranny caught on fire from heating up going up a hill while the disc's slipped on the 700r4---but with the rebuild i went to a 383 dart strocker and put in a 4l80e i got from jet on a huge sale they had....anyway---even with all the miles it never stopped---but boy did the gas mileage get bad.....after 175 thousand i put in prolong every 50k miles and i believe that did it and vastly improver the compresion and gas milage....

Re: Most miles you had on your Suburban?

211000 on my dads 85 3/4 ton 2wheeler suburban. 10000 miles on the 2nd motor and it runs as well as the 1st one ever did. i think the 350 is the perfect engine in these trucks for towing. in my bass club i have towed boats with 454 suburbans, 460 f-350 fords, 302 explorers, and others. none have come close to my 350 suburban.
