Follow up to my "I want your opinions on my truck thread"

This is the follow up thread to my earlier thread where I was asking for input on my truck....This Thread from last week...

I went with ya'lls advice and spotted in the bed to match the front half of the truck.

I do think it looks much better even if it doesn't have the patina and surface rust of the cab and front clip.

I appreciate everyones input on this.

Last picture is the next victim of the Texas Firefighter truck buiding shop. I'm going to start putting it together this next week.

Re: Follow up to my "I want your opinions on my truck thread"

Looking good Tx!
That was my suggestion on your first thread. Not the one last week, but when you debuted this beauty. Now all you need to do his some flat brown rattle can high-lites and a quick scuff over with a Scotch Brite pad for the weathered look and that bed will match the front just fine...

I still think the cab clearance lights should go back on it just for fun....

Re: Follow up to my "I want your opinions on my truck thread"

That was easy enough, much better. Are those 7" on front and 8" rears?My`72 short fleet`s going flat white until it`s refined.I have 8" OEM-type wheels that`ll get red paint, full wheelcovers, and 1" whitewalls.Do you think I`ll wanna use 7s up front on mine?I may not drop as much, but might not find lower profile tires either.
That `Burb looks pretty solid. It`ll be nice to see what you do to it.

I agree.

Just a little brown here & there for some faux rust (or black for that 'worn to the OE primer' look) & then scotch brite it for some consistency. You could always do the same kind of quickie job on the front half to get everything alot closer. Just plot out where the current 'rust' is, paint it, apply some faux rust, & drive down the road knowing your neighbors are coveting more than your 'original 77 model'.

Re: Follow up to my "I want your opinions on my truck thread"

Good job. It is a nice DD work in progress. I wouldn't think of it as a beater it just ain't done yet. I had a 62 suburban dark blue. It was a 250 I-6 3 speed. Man I wish I had it back. Will check on parts I pm'ed about this morning.

Re: Follow up to my "I want your opinions on my truck thread"

Special-K, the fronts are 15x7 van rallys with 245/60/15 tires. Rear are 15x8 truck rallys with 275/60/15's.

The Suburban is a very good truck. I have a 350, turbo 350 in the shop for it right now, that's why the clip is off of it.

I've already rebuilt the suspension and brakes. I'll drop it slightly and leave the slot mags on it.

The whole idea is to build it to sell, so I can build something old, real old.

Re: Follow up to my "I want your opinions on my truck thread"

I love the way that truck looks. Maybe I am weired but I love the way a warn out paint job looks on a lowered truck like that. If that was my truck it would get tint and be done.

What did you paint the bed with?

Looks a lot better with a white bed. Still needs either Keystones or Cragars, IMO.
