Vonage Sucks!!!
Has anyone else tryed this B.S?After hearing the "WooHoo WooHooHoo"ads and finally realizing what they are actually selling,my wife decides this is a good deal at half the cost of the same service we had with MCI,she goes for it.Well...Now that it`s up and running yeaterday:1)I try to call home from my cell. The phone rings once and I get our new voice mail.2)She can`t retrieve it.3)Once home, the phone rings,I pick it up and there`s no one there.4)I need to call my mom about my son`s leg surgery today. The phone rings four times, then stops, that`s it.Today,my mom tells me she picks the phone up and one time can here me saying,"I`m trying to make this call, but our new peice of crap phone service won`t let me."Not a message,it was me voicing my frustration, but we couldn`t communicate.5)If you`re on the phone with the laptop on,the phone won`t work.6)If a call does go through,it`s got static and they just drop.7)Customer service can`t accept any more e-mails.8)When calling them, all you can get are people to talk to about getting signed-up for their p.o.s.mass-marketed folly.9)My wife calls from her work(sales people)she gets them to hook her up with someone to help. The call is full of static and breaking up.Even the customer service phones have bad reception! Not to mention, once again it`s a foreigner that would be hard to understand even if you could read his lips(I know, standard these days).10)She tells me it`s a 1 year contract.I say,B.S!Let them hold me to it.There`s two sides to every contract and I`m not getting what`s do to me.Let them try to get a dime from me.Half price for nothing ain`t a good deal.

Re: Vonage Sucks!!!
I have a buddy who moved from Houston to South Korea and, by using Vonage, he was able to keep his Houston phone number--much easier (and cheaper) for friends and family to keep in touch.

Re: Vonage Sucks!!!
This is actually the first negative info I've heard about the service. I'm going to keep an eye on this thread because I've been considering going to VoIP. I know it had problems when it first came out, but I thought most of the bugs were worked out now.

Re: Vonage Sucks!!!
I have my same number, too. But didn`t move. The other thing,#11)last night I called my wife and although all was fine on my end,on her end I was talking over her when she talked.Like a time delay problem. You can do a procedure to have 911 service,so that`s not#12,lol.That 29 cent per minute thing must be that he got a number out of the area. When I moved to my present home I paid extra to have a foreign exchange for the next zone over.Nowadays I`ve had the MCI with free long distance and those calls that were local on my number are listed as toll calls,N/C.
Oh,#12)calls to cell phones get dropped.Even to Verizon.

Re: Vonage Sucks!!!
Hummm I LOVE it.
I even got an exchange local to most of our friends as opposed to the little podunk town's NPA/NXX that had them calling me toll. That said I have a super clean and fast cable modem connection and have kept my infrastructure dirt simple stupid. If I want complicated networking I got to work :-)
