Re: WTB Clearance lights

Becouse they are designed for oversized vehicles and required to be on the highest point int he front of the vehicle so you can see if you have clearance going through tunnels or Mc D's drive through at night.

Why is a hot water heater called that? It heats cold water... not hot water.

I sorta thought that's what it was for, but how does it work? It has to be the way the amber light reflects on the tunnel or overpass wall on approach because trucks hardly slow down approaching a tunnel and a lot of them have smoke stacks and cargo taller than the cab. Even if the cab was the tallest point, 3"-4" is not much of a clearance at a tunnel entrance. Am I making any sense?

Special-K... Blue light is clearance at K. And amber light is Special at K

Re: WTB Clearance lights

I think they are more to let motorists know that there is a large, heavy, oversized vehicle coming down the road. It`s a safety thing, just like the new trailer reflectors.A pair of headlights is a pair of headlights when looking up the road.

My 69 C-30 Has The Rounded Style On It. Of Coarse It Was 30 Years Old When I Got It, & They Could Have Been Changed. That Plastic Gets Brittle Over The Years (i Doubt If G.m. Expected Them To Last 35 Years) & Replacements Are Only A Few Dollars At Napa For Brand New. Bite The Bullit & Buy New Ones. Then You Won't Have To Worry About Them For Another 35 Years, Or In My Case Till I'm 83 . John
