Why yes...yes I am sore... STILL!!
After downloading all the pictures, and resizing them and all that jaz... I realize that there is no pic of the actual bed on the truck!

I guess I'll have to remember to do that tomorow or something huh.
OK, so then... remember, i am working alone here...
First, pulled the truck in, and had the bed off within an hr. I picked up one end and placed it on 55 gallon plastic drums, then picked up the front of the bed and kicked some saw horses under there. After getting it up on there, I realized i couldn't pull out becouse the saw horse feet were in the way, so i grabbed the hoist and rigged it up on some wood like that to get out from under it.

This sucker rides ROUGH like this... but burn outs are soooooooo much fun.

Back of the cab looks like doo doo doesn't it?

Now, if I had planed all this out properly, I'd have had the new bed there at the shop...
WRONG!!!
Here I am, no bed on my truck (no tail lights either) and my bed is 5 miles down the road. I ended up grabbing our 4X4 super duty ferd shop truck... as iff this sucker didn't sit too high as it was... we installed a flat bed on that sucker. So here I am alone loading this 450 pound bed UP into the flat bed.

So anyways, here's the replacement;

god I hate those stupid dealer installed fuel tanks.

This is after 20 min with th4e steam cleaner.

Steam cleaner isn't an acurate term....you can pee hotter water than this thing... but the eleventy billion PSI is nice. It was pretty clean after another 20 min of blasting or so.

Now the fun part.

Yeah... that's me up there.

This bed is an Oklahoma bed, a 307 powered Cheyenne Longhorn. Some one nuked the engien pretty bad, there was a piston in there sideways and a shattered bore in a cylinder. But the truck looks like it was worked pretty hard before it's death.

2 coats of POR 15 later, this is what the back of the frame looks like. This took about 3/4 of a quart to do. Used up 4 or 5 brushes.
My arms look like I went full sleves with tats...even on my left shoulder. Looks like I got in a fight with the POR...and it looks like it kicked my ass too!

Here is the part i found amazing. This truck has sat for a long time. It looks to me liek almost 10 years. Yet... only 2 bed bolts broke when taking it apart.

Never fails... when you want them to break...they don't, BUT... if you need the bolts, they will start to break one by one... but not untill the parts store is closed.

I'll get the after pics tomorow.

Andy, I know the feeling...whipped and beat but you made some great progress! I can't believe that you cleaned and painted the frame and then started on the bed with a DA! Can't wait to see it on the truck. Great job!

Good progress Andy. I'm glad I am only dealing with a short bed. I'd hate to have to man handled that longhorn bed, even without the floor.

The POR was dry to the touch in an hr or so i think.
It seems to dry instantly on your arms though.
A shor fleet woulda been easier to mount and dismount, but it woulda been a real b!tch to load alone...probably wouldn't have happened.

OK... finished pics... at least, done for the moment.
I still have the wood in the back yard I need to cut and install. So for now, I still have that stupid bed liner. And since it is only there for a few days, I'm not bolting it down. I don't want all the holes from the self tapping bolts.
So here it is.... Drivers side...this is the side all (most) pics have been taken from tp untill now. The other side looked so bad, I didn't want proof of it out there.

Here it is... the dark side of the moon...the seldome seen, but always remembered, passenger side.

My tailgate actually fits properly now, and I don't need a 3 foot pry bar to open it anymore!!! (the tailgate is still a total garbage piece though)

Like I said before, the primer is all mismatched... I did primer to get away from the circus wagon look... but in avoiding it, I created a collage of primer grays.

I think once I get the passenger side door done (have it in my storage unit right now...it's off the blue longhorn) and mounted, I'm gonna shoot the whole thing with sealer...real stuff, not spray bomb. I'm just debating if I should tone it with black in the sealer.
Hmmmmm.

I guess I need to go out while the sun is shining and cut up some plywood.

in 15 more days, I'll have owned this truck for 4 years. Longhorn Jeff and I went there on the 29th of march, and was headin back on the 30th. I worked on it quite a bit that summer, then let it sit while the fundage recouped. But I was still with *her* and the fundage never showed up. So that (and many MANY other factors) made me leave and all of a sudden... I CAN WORK ON MY TRUCK. It hit the road last year about this time... and blew up the engein the net day. .
billla... it's been named goldmeber for all these years... I guess that wouldn't suit it in gray huh?
