Wheels and Tires: 15/17 Combo

I am looking a running Torq Thrust 2 on my 72 cheve LWB stock hieght Cheyenne. I have looked through the Wheel and Tire thread but didn't find anything on my combo. I am think about 15x8 with 275/60-15 Kumho Escta STX's up front and 17x8 with 285/60-17 out back. I was wondering if anyone has pictures or has done this or even just comments and concerns. I can always fall back to Cargar SS or Torq-Thrusts 15x8 with 275/60-15 or 255/70-15 and 285/70-15s. Thanks

Re: Wheels and Tires: 15/17 Combo

Why the staggerd sizes? Why not run all 15's or all 17's?

I know it's done when going larger than 18's because there aren't many choices for 19's & most 20" tires are either too short (like rubberbands) or too tall (4x4 territory) so the 18/20 combo get's you similar sidewall heights that will survive everyday driving.... pot-holes included.

You can get 15's in many sizes & 17's too.

Anyhow, it's your truck. If that's what you want to do then go for it & put up the pics when you get them on . The sizes you listed are all pretty tall. Is the truck dropped @ all?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I have to agree with Scoti. If you want 17's run them all the way around. It's going to look a lot better...
