hood hinges

ok i just put a new harwood fiberglass hood on the 72 and i had to remove the springs from the hinges, and i notice that hinges have lots of play in the pivots. would this cause the hood not to line up right, its like its too low then too high and sets like it crooked. please help

Re: hood hinges

Hinges should have minimum play in the pivot rivet areas. Alignment will depened on how well you have your fenders aligned ---soft rubber alignment thingies on the fenders, then patience. If you need better hinges, I have a barn full---in Kentucky!
by the way, to get the rear of the hood down, you usually have to push the hood up just a wee bit to put some preload on the springs before tightening the hinges to the fenders.
