Newer Tranny for the 81 chevy..
I stopped at my uncles place today, and asked if he had a tranny laying around, and sure enough he did, he said it was a tranny out of a 78chevy pickup, 3spd with the granny 1st, so technically its a 4-speed with internal linkage. Right now i have a regular 4speed tranny with external linkage, and just wondering, if the drive shaft will work with his tranny.. i'll get more info this weekend when i buy it for $50...

So your truck has a 3 on the tree, and you want to convert to a floor shifter?

You may have to look around for a different mounting bracket for the four speed and you may have to change the yoke to match the four speed. Of course you now will have to get the hole in the floor and get a new boot for the shifter.
