Goodbye.......

to the piece of &*^%$ cab.
I finished stripping the stuff that was any good off the 69 cab, rolled the truck out of the shop, then off she went. The hard part was rolling it the 100-150 yards across (make that up) the yard to the scap area (No pictures..I was too tired then). It would have been alot easier with an extra pair of hands, but I wanted that thing off!!. Now I can finish cleaning and detailing the frame.

Soon to come I hope
> Install new Crate 350 & rebuilt T350.
> Finish cab mods, prime, paint and install it.
Who knows...Still alot I want/need to do.

Re: Goodbye.......

Looks like there was more good metal left on that cab than anything seen around here! <note to self> move south to find all the good parts.

You needed all the normal stuff, cab corners, inner/outer rockers, all 4 cab supports. It was shot around the windshield. Both kick panels were gone. all under the cowl area was gone, firewall area was way gone. floor boards I could totally tell. Some one in the past had vulcanized rubber to both sides to do repairs and I just didn't feel like peeling it off since I already had my cab from the 70. It would have been a LOT of work.

On the plus side there is a HUGE supply of used rubber and silicon RTV if anyone wishes to scrap it off.

Re: Goodbye.......

Meathead yes I did, but when the engine went and I saw what shape the cab (and engine/electrical area was in, I didn't feell like going through all the PO items in eletrical, heat, and other stuff in the cab (I am a pain for certain things when I drive a vehicle) that I decided to do it just once and do it right. Hopefully I won't be too far off from getting it back on the road once all the assembly starts. My tranny will be ready soo and I just am finishing up getting all those little engine pieces to assemble the engine/tranny/electrical so it can run. The other cab is pretty close (least I think) to getting paint.

Dang Bill, I guess I hadn't realized what you were doing either. All I can say is it sounds like you are doing the right thing, so good luck and stay the course, LOL!
