wont start will start wont start....???

ok trying to get rid of my last burb. go to fire it up and nothing. battery is charged all the lights work etc etc. nothing happens in neutral or park. so i push it where i want it to be in the lot. just for grins i try the key...starts right up...grrrr. this was a couple of weeks ago. today i go to load it up on the trailer and it starts right up again...as im going up the trailer it dies. its kinda cold blooded so no big deal. go to start it up...nothing. its all charged, all the electrical stuff works fine. nothing. im guessing neutral safety switch problem? i dont even know where to look. is it wired to the tranny and the shift linkage hits is somewhere? any help would be appreciated...thanks

neutral safty under dash connected to colum, or at least thats where mine was,
sound more likely to be a bad switch or wiring to me, or even a bad starter, but who knows. could even be low voltage to the exciter wire on starter, but that would be wiring i guess.

Neutral switch is on the column just inside the firewall. Easily defeated by unplugging and jumpering the plug with a short piece of solid wire. Other possibilities are bad starter or solenoid, loose connections at battery or starter, ignition switch or a bad or missing ground between the engine and the battery. Finding an intermittent problem can be tough, they never occur when you are ready to fix it.

Also-
Just for the sake of it, check all your grounds and cables thoroughly. I had a truck that was doing that same thing. I even checked the terminals, but didn't notice how the cables were totally rotted underneath the sheathing. Good thing I bought a new starter!

Assuming you don't even hear a click, take a BFH (a striking tool) and whach the starter. If the starter motor is tired sometimes a direct shock to it resets the worn out brushes and enabling it to work one more time. If you hear a click in your attempts to start it but the engine doesn't crank, the solenoid may be at fault.

I had a starter that did the same thing
Start beating on it and then have somebody try cranking while your beating on it. Just be safe about it for crying out loud!!
