Re: new braided hoses

Question on my upper radiator hose I had to cut away a little shroud to clear the hose end. I noticed today when I got home it was smoking and stunk. Could it be the shroud that is smokeing from touching the hot rad hose end?

Re: new braided hoses

That setup looks just like I want to put on my truck. Is the braid made into the hoses or does it just slip over the outside. I ask because I saw a kit at pep boys that slips over the hoses and it had the ends included. It had enough braid and ends for most of the hoses in the engine compartment. I saw a truck at a show last year and it had the braid over the hoses and it looked shoddy. Yours looks great so that's why I asked.
The shroud is made out of hard plastic so I doubt if the hose end would make it smoke and stink. Make sure the fan belts clear the hoses cause they would cause the symptoms you describe.

Re: new braided hoses

The braid is over the hose already no belts rubbing only smokes by the shroud end.
