Different Direction for truck. Info on Ralleys needed.

So, the truck has been my daily for about 2 years now, with the sucker getting bagged and lots of other fun stuff happening to it, plenty of stuff has broke and needed to be fixed. I havent been able to really throw lots of upgrades on her lately and it had me wondering what direction I really wanted to go with her.

I was on Sportruck.com looking through the galleries of the latest shows today because it was nice to just be bored for once and waste time looking at trucks. But I was appauled at where the show scene had gone, its all about shocking the viewer, not classic style. Pink paint, horrible over complicated suspension setups, and anything else that screams out loud.

Now I was originally planning on going with an 18/20" combo on my truck. But now I just want to get away from that scene. I want a throwback, retro, restified truck. I was looking at classic wheel combos that just screamed cool to me. I came upon Corvette ralleys. 2 words, Oldschool cool.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Now as I come to understand it that a ralley wheel is just the pain ole bare wheel with rings and covers attached. Its been a while since ive had to deal with em

So my question is, what backspacing do they come with? I want to run a 235/65/15 or close up front as not to rub with the bags. And most likely a 255/60/15 out back to fill up the wells decently, its super low.

This also had me contemplating if I really wanted to get crazy with the rear bags? Step notching the frame and all. Since I was going for a GMachine (well, as much as you can for a truck) setup. Just to have a nice cruiser and be able to carve the corners. Any input would be appreciated.

This truck was what really wowed me. I remember the owner saying it was at 6/8 or so. Mine sits far lower in the back and my front is currently bagged.

Yeah thats why Im building a flatblack truck. Tired of all the flashy bling bling, I just want somethign that I can build on my own budget. You can get the rims at stockton wheel at have them put any size backspacing you want on them.

Re: Different Direction for truck. Info on Ralleys needed.

ive had mine on for some time... about 4 years now. even though they were to get me though the bodywork-paint phase, i think i just might stick with them. i have had everything from 15's to 22's on my truck and i have to say that these wheels look the best on it.

sorry about the half-assed looking truck. its been over a year since its been painted and i still havent gotten pics of it all done

What backspacing are you running? Im thinking I may have to stagger mine to get the look I really want. my rears fill the fenders in the rear perfectly now. The fronts on mine stick out too far and are REALLY close when laid out. And your truck looks great btw.

rOlf, I applaud you on your decision...and couldn't agree with you more on your feelings towards the current trends.

I had 15" Rally wheels on Yeller, loved the way they looked. I have even toyed with the idea of running them again, although different width's and offset.

Keep us posted on what yo do.

Re: Different Direction for truck. Info on Ralleys needed.

Well, i guess I can just grab a wheel off of mine and measure the BS. The rear is perfect, I guess Ill just take an inch off or 1/2 inch off for the front and with skinnier tires I should clear like a champ. Add a new swaybar up front and it should carve like a champ.

As for the setup in the rear. I was thinking of staying with the KP 6-link since it is a really nice setup. A 4 Link is a 4 link, right? Its either that or a wishbone setup with F-9000 sleeve bags above the axle.

That POS /w Ralleys

15x8 with a 4" or 4½" BS should work just fine.
BTW: I applaud your desiscion too. I think, on these trucks, classic resto is the way to go.

Im not really into flashy rims either. Thats why Im going to go with either rally's or a set of American Racing Victor 367's like this.

Cool Ill take a measure sometime this week. I think im most likely running 4" right now. So Ill go 4.5" up front with the narrower tire.

I say keep your current wheels. What brand are they?

Yep I'd have to agree also with the trends, I had a 94 chevy fullsize that was bagged, bodydropped 3", and shaved on 20's I sold it cause I just couldn't keep up, I would of had to re bodydrop it 6 more inches and have 26" wheels that stuck over the roof, don't get me wrong I love stuff buried in the weeds but some of it is plain too much. It's much easy to follow the KISS method!

I got em with the truck, and I just dont like em. They are a fairly standard wheel. But they are old and dirty as hell, no amount of buffing could make them shine like I want. Ill most likely sell em for cheap.

Factory BS is 4", so I would measure based on that.

Yes, that was a sad day in a parking lot when some stupid woman backed right into the side of my truck. I got 1500 in my pocket for that one and figured since it needed a repaint anyways, id hold off on the bodywork until I go over the whole hooptie.

As for motorwork, I was told it was a 350, alas, ITS NOT!

Its a pretty decent little 305, Intake, RV Cam, Headers, exhaust, TBI heads, carb setup. Once I thought the headgaskets blew I tore her apart and found out the awful truth. Im not sure what im gonna do with the motor, maybe go with an LT1. Who knows.
