anyone know if it's an original part, or if it even exists? i thought i had seen one a long time ago, but haven't since. it also seems like it would be an easy part to fab on a metal brake (maybe someone that has one would do it?)

the part i'm describing is a brakemetal cover that screws onto the floor vent just below the control unit to cover the cable that's exposed. i've never seen one in real life, but thought i had in a catalog or something. there are two screw holes on the vent to mount it.

There was one in the assembly manual for 67, but no one has ever seen one. Probably got axed right before production.

The piece you describe is on some 40/50/60 series trucks. With the way the floor is different on these cabs I guess it was used to stop hitting the cable and arm with your feet. In 13 years of junkyard scrounging I have only picked up one. Very hard to find but they do exist. I think it would be totally unnecessary in a regular P/U. Mine is not for sale.

I got thinking about it today after you revived this thread. I think a friend of mine still has a 1970 C60 dump. I'll see if he's still got it, and if it has one of these pieces you are talking about. He probably doesn't want to give up the part, but maybe I can try to make another. Give me a week or so - but remind me.
