Engine and AC Bracket Match

I have the chance to pic up a 350 crate at a good price. I was jus wondering if the AC brackets off of a 72 350 will match up on any 350 engine from 73-86, if they dont what year engine will i need to have to get. I know this is probably an elementary question but im no mechanic, im sure i could tell if the bolt holes match up if i looked at the engine though. Another question is will my ramhorn manifolds work with a 73-86 350, i would think they would. Anything else i need to worry about?

If you get any small block from 73-up including crate motors all the brackets will bolt up..You can use the newer center bolt valve cover motors too,if you use an aftermarket intake manifold..You can get the newer vortec 350 with roller car up to a 98 model truck motor..with aftermarket carb intake, will bolt in as long as you use the newer one piece rear main seal flywheel..Any questions you need to know,Just ask..Thanks,Erick

Re: Engine and AC Bracket Match

The 72 a/c brackets are on the pass side and alt on drivers side. 73 up they change sides and go to long water pump. Just make sure all of your brackets pulleys etc. are from the same setup, 67-72 or 73 up. also when you use the long pump your fan will stick inside the shroud farther. John

That "sticking inside the shroud further wont cause any problems will it? I could just probably use the water pump off the 72 though if it did.

If you are using a 73-86 engine you cannot use the short pump off the 72nothing will line up. I have a later eng in mine and I cut some off the shroud so the fan didn't go in so far. Also a big block shroud fits just right w/long pump and you will have to rewire the alt for pass side. John

Re: Engine and AC Bracket Match

So the AC bracket that hooks to the water pump on the 72 engine will or will not bolt right up to the 73-86 long pump water pump. And why would i need to rewire the Alt for the passenger side, thats not where my AC will be since i have 67-72 ac brackets. So it will have to be on drivers.

Re: Engine and AC Bracket Match

I misunderstood what you were asking. If you are using 72 brackets on 73 up engine no problem, just use the short pump with them. John
