Re: clutch adjustment?

New pressure plate also? Lubed the throw out bearing?
machined the flywheel true flat?
Sounds like the pressure plate is going bad. If the adjustment was to tight it can happen, toe play should be around an inch or so

Re: clutch adjustment?

Try adjusting the linkage so it has a little free play, about an inch at the top of the pedal.

Re: clutch adjustment?

Re: clutch adjustment?

i know a guy that lubed his shaft and the input splines on the transmission and he pulled the clutch out in about 3,000 miles cause it too was slipping.
grease was slung off of the input shaft and onto the clutch disc causing slippage.i won't do that again...........

It's a catastrophic success.

Re: clutch adjustment?

Shorten the linkage rod to the fork. You should have some free play in your pedal before the clutch begins to disengage. If its to long its like your driving around with your foot on the clutch pedal and not letting the plate get a full grip.

Re: clutch adjustment?

just a little..........moly. Did many tow truck and heavy duty flat bed clutch replacements, like everything else, a heavy hand doesn't work.

you can't lube the bearing insides, but you lube the the splined part on the tranny and the inside and outside of the bearing to allow free movement on the splined area and between fork and TO bearing. at least, this is what i was told when upgrading my clutch, i did it and it worked like butter the rest of the time i had that drivetrain
