Im new on here. My dad is 72shadetree. I have to do a research paper at school and i chose 67-72 chevy trucks as my topic.I was wonderin if somebody would tell me a little history of the trucks. Thanks

Unless you've already gotten the OK from your teacher, most teachers will tell you that 67-72 chevy trucks is too broad of a topic to do a research paper on. What about them, or a specific truck do you want to do your paper on? Will your paper be on design, engine, etc??? Just tyring to help you narrow your topic down. For example, I did a research paper in HS on the 55 chevy cameo carrier. It was the first truck of its kind and it set off the modern day trend of "fleetside trucks." Teacher (a female at that) loved it. She thought it was neat and interesting.

I'd suggest narrowing your topic to just one specific year, or one type of truck (like the CST's or Cheyenne Supers), there's just way too much information to write something on the 67-72 trucks in general. good luck.

67-72 was the last year range they made all-steel trucks - 73+ had plastic dashes, etc. That's the only thing that is factual that I can think of (you're gonna get a lot of opinions from people with this thread, so be careful to check your sources )

67-72 marks the first years for a v8, independent front suspensions for 2 wheel drive models, disc brakes up front in 71-72, air conditioning in trucks, and 67-72's were the last models to have in cab gas tanks, 2 point seat belts.. i think, probably tons of things.

Not the first year for a V-8, you could get a 283 as early as 1955, I think. GM introduded the independent front suspension in 1960 for trucks, and 3 point seat belts were offered as an option

Matt, hate to do this to you bud....
there were V8 in the 60 - 66 trucks.
Independant front suspention in 60 - 66
lap belts were standard untill 75 or so

67 was the first year to have a heater as standard equipment
67 - 72 introduced steel floors in the beds,
The 8 1/2 foot fleet side (longhorn) introduced in 68
Only years for 3 door suburbans (2 doors 66 and older, 4 doors 73 and up)

I also did a paper on these trucks at skool this year. Teacher said write whatever you want, so I did it on something that I would actually enjoy writing about. But yeah, I would try and narrow it down to something specific. There is a lot to write about!

i agree with everybody else about narrowing it down cause i just did a research powerpoint pres. for a class i'm taking and i was doing Hemi's in general and found that they were used long before chrysler did in european cars and decided the Chrysler Hemi would be easier
