Later model front suspention?
Hello all....
I was told that 73 - ~76 chevy 1/2 ton front control arms, disc brakes, etc will bolt right on to the 67 - 72 pickups. Has anyone else heard of this? If so would this be a cheaper/better way to do a disc brake conversion? Thanks,

you will also need the front crossmember and engine cradle to get them to fit
its almost a direct bolt in jsut a couple holes in the front( I think) need to be grinded out a little

I did the swap on my 69 longhorn several yrs ago, before there were any bolt on parts. I used 75 spindles & rotors,& had to use the balljoints & outer tierods for the 75. The lower A arms used were 71-72(steering stop differences). you will no doubt run into problems with the center link,inner rod ends,& sleeves on your 68 going this route. as a rule, try to pull the pcs off the same truck,& you should be in good shape. good luck, & if any troubles midswap,feel free to E mail me & I will try to help out........Crazy Al

I used a front crossmember froma 79 pickup for my 68. Easy as pie, you just need to oblong two holes and drill 2 others the rest bolts right in. Way to easy.

I did the swap on my 70. Used parts from a 77. You can use up to a 87. Ony differance is they went to metric in 80. You dont need engine cradle or stuff like that . You need upper and lower control arms with ball joints and spindals. Tie rod ends and center link. Thats it. I didnt need to drill any holes or make any oblong. Just a streight swap. Good luck. Oh ye if you go to power from non power I think you will have to dimple the frame if the frame is 69 or older.
