Hood options?
The biggest thing on the blazer I have a issue with right now is the hood. I'm thinking maybe a fiberglass hood but not sure. Anyone got any stories on who to stay away from and who's are good?

Re: Hood options?
Stay away from Unlimited Products. USBody and Harwood are good choices for fiberglass.

Re: Hood options?
why fiberglass Brandon? any certain reason? we all know that the early years have problems with the hoods, with a fiberglass i would be afraid it would bust it as well, with the stock springs.. but with no springs and a prop rod it might be ok..

Re: Hood options?
Goodmark is great. I had one on my S10. I'm glad I went with steel over fiberglass. The cost is around the same so unless you need the weight savings I would stay with steel.

Re: Hood options?
I'm wanting steel but I was thinking it was more than fiberglass. I would like a steel one but defiantely want a good one. Which is cheaper?

Re: Hood options?
Brandon, if I can find a clean used GM hood up here in the rust belt, I would surely think you could find one down there in pickup truck land.

Re: Hood options?
I think I may have found on in OK near Jon. I'll have to see if I can get it cheap.

Re: Hood options?
Not to get too far off track, but Summit is carrying Goodmark hoods and fenders for our truck now. Anyone ever use one of their fenders?

Re: Hood options?
I sell all of Goodmarks products and sold a number of fenders with no complaints, but the 81-91 fenders are the same as Tri-plus. The 73-80 fender is made off Goodmarks stamping though...

Re: Hood options?
I like my Harwood fiberglass hood on my 84 Chevy. It gives me a lot of room, lighter weight, and a good fit, without that stupid cross bar that the metal hoods have. I also have seen a few of the metal hoods with dents in the hood surface---thin metal in the construction. My Harwood has been on my truck since 1995.

Re: Hood options?
I was looking at the hood today and I'm going to try and weld some braces on it to keep it straight right now. It's been bent but not a hard crease. I think it will close good enough with those and some new springs and hinges. But it will definately need a new hood.
