How to remove overload leaf spring?
I am considering removing the overload spring on my 72 GMC in order to lower the rear of the truck and give it a softer ride. The overload spring is the one on the bottom, correct? How do I go about removing it, and will I need shorter U bolts, or need to do any grinding? Does the overload spring just slip right out of there? Isn't there a tit thing that holds them in place in the center?

Re: How to remove overload leaf spring?
When I remove the bottom overload spring form BB it only lowered the truck about 3/4" the thickness of the leaf.
There is a bolt that goes thru the center of all the leafs ,I used the same U bolts but placed a new bolt between the springs .
