Fuel Delivery

While Driving Down The Road The 89' Chevy 1500 Truck Just Stopped. Like I Turned Off The Key. After Ten Or So Minutes It Started Right Back Up. Got It Home And It Stalled Again. So This Time I Waited Ten Or So Minutes And It Started Again Like Before, Like Everything Was Ok. When It Stalled Again(just Like Turning Of The Truck) I Looked At The Injectors When My Wife Tried To Start The Truck. There Was No Fuel Coming From Them. After Ten Or So Minutes She Tried Again And This Time Every Thing Was Fine, The Injectors Delivered Fuel And The Truck Started Up. Kinda Scratching My Head On This One, Any Help Would Be Much Appreciated.

Re: Fuel Delivery

Welcome to the message board.

The computer needs to receive a distributor reference pulse from the distributor module to trigger the injectors. You could have a distributor module failure causing the injectors not to trigger. Test to see if it has spark. If there is no spark when it will not run this will also cause no injector trigger. It is possible for the module to produce spark without the computer getting a reference pulse. A bad distributor module or wiring between the module and the ECM can cause this.

I sure sounds like the distributor module could be failing.

Re: Fuel Delivery

I have had the problem you are talking about before. Things you need to check. fuel filter first. if that is ok then you are down to either wireing connections to the fuel pump.(had a topkick with that problem where the wires enter the cage) or a bad fuel pump that is over heating. You might try listening to the pump when you first turn the key on. if it sounds very rough or a high pitched almost scream it is probably the problem. The only other possibality I can think of is the fuel pump relay, but i doubt if it is it.
