new exhaust on my 72
Getting all new exhaust on my 72 tomorrow. It has headers with glasspacks the come out @ 90 deg. angle before rear tires.
Im got a pair of new Magnaflow polished stainless mufflers and having all new pipe run from headers back. Going to have angled @ a 45 degree angle with slash cut stainless tips put on. Can't wait to hear what she sounds like after. The glass packs are worn out and rap and crackle a lot right now so should be a nice mellow tone. My lowering spindles came in today so will probably install this weekend. I will post some before and after pics on monday if I get it done. |

I've been wondering about those Magnaflows. See if you can get a sound clip of it with the new system on it and post it here too.

Just had my 71 done. Stainless steel pipes and Magnaflows with an x pipe all the way stright out the back, with 4" by 18" pencile tips. Haven't put my headers on yet due to some fitment problems. Will try to get a sound clip on it today. Pics will be hard I forgot to get them when it was being installed.

I have magnaflows on my 97 GMC Sierra, I love the sound of them...not as loud and tinny sounding as Flowmasters (not knocking flowmasters) I really like the tone the magnaflows have as its more of a throaty tone and doesnt ring your ears as a daily driver...good choice on a muffler!

Has anyone tried the Summit welded mufflers? I used the on a '64 Impala project and they sounded incredible. Not as good looking as some others, but have held up for 4 years now and are quiet enough at idle, but open up well.

Well got the truck back from the shop on lunch. I can actually carry on a conversation in the cab while driving now. Sounds much quieter...desired effect. Although I thought it would have been a deeper "rumble" than what it is. When I really get on it,it has a LITTLE rap to it. Was hoping to totally eliminate any of that,and just have a low rumble. I do have headers so that can be a little bit of a contributing factory to the sound. The shop said maybe a resonator would tone it down a little.. Anybody in here have resonators in their exhaust system? He would weld in for free.

I have Magnaflows on "GQ" (See PIC's link in my siggy) I have a sound clip
of it in the garage, but it has that tunnel sound, I had it out a few minutes ago I should have taken another sound bite, if someone can host it I will go back out and get another clip of it, I wouldn't trade mine for Flowmasters, I had em in the past, I am much happier now with the Mags, the Flows had a bad interior hum going down the highway, these are just plain rowdy, JMHO
