Re: ABS Problems

Problems??
Not sure.....the ABS light in my 92 truck has actually started blinking (at a variable rate) lately but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the rear brakes.

PS: this means one of two things 1: my truck's computer doesn't use a 555 based timer for blinking and that means it's unique.....call Barret Jackson!
2: there's a short somewhere.

Re: ABS Problems

If I remember right the light comes on three different ways for different conditions, One for low fluid, 1 for a problem with the ABS electrical and I forgot what the other is. I personally would run by AutoZone or similar and get them to read the codes to see if it is something you need to worry about. I do not like taking chances on brakes. My 96 had a computer malfunction and which zapped the ABS model and left me without brakes.

Re: ABS Problems

Thanks Bill,
I will look into pulling any codes set by the ABS system. I tend to think it is just a short though as the ABS light has always been on......very dim but on.
Nice site you have there on your 1970. I learned to drive in a 1969 just like yours (except the one I learned to drive in had fewer options than yours does!)
