Re: What are you getting done this weekend????

I don't normally post on these weekend threads because I get my things on the truck done during the week in auto body school. Thursday I painted my glove box door, ash tray and grill a metalic charcoal. I was also tasked to paint a replacement fender for a fellow student for his 93 Caprice. Friday I helped the other student put his fender on and pinstripe his car. Next week I will be blasting and painting my window regulators and door latches.

Re: What are you getting done this weekend????

Replace turn signal cam, install steering wheel, maybe get the glove box door covered, mock up the door and kick panels, double check the gauge cluster.

How hard is the bedside to replace? I have a passenger side for my long bed, but I'm waiting until I get my gas tank so I can pull the bed and do it all at once.

Re: What are you getting done this weekend????

I'll be doing the disc brake swap on my Suburban. I already have the parts layed out clean and orderly, just waiting for me to get home from work tomorrow morning.

When finished with that, I'll begin detailing the engine to get it ready to drop in.

Re: What are you getting done this weekend????

I sprayed about 7 cans of oven cleaner on my engine, tranny and cab underside to cut some of the grease and oil. Works great on oily stuff, not so well on undercoating. Cans were on sale for $1 each! Also blasted my firewall and gave it a coat of grey ZeroRust for now. Also managed to sand some paint of off the hood before it started to rain, so that is it for today since I have to work outside ( no garage)

Change of plans for me here. I took on overtime for Sunday too. That will make 48 straight hours of work. Bummer because I don't get to work on my junk, but the extra money will sure buy neat parts.

Re: What are you getting done this weekend????

Went to a yard and got some new seat brackets for my '93 bench seat and I got them to cut out the bedside filler door from an 88-98 silverado bedside. It's new home will be my '67's stepsidefender as a filler door for my blazer tank. I also removed about 1/2 of bondo from my "new" used stepside fenders. Good news is that 90% of it was unnecessary, the previous owner of them went crazy with it

Re: What are you getting done this weekend????

Well so far I had to change out a window regulator in the wife's 02 Bonneville. Sticker shock, $340...dealer item...Oh well Wife is happy, her car is useable again. I also ripped out a fence that was damaged by Katrine, cut dwn some trees, and got about 1/3 of the Azelas trimmed. Tomorrow might be riding the lawnmower and leave the rest of the trees and Azelas for next weekend.

Well, I popped the hood just to see if the parts I bought were going to fit. Looks good now I get to paint them for installation sometime next week. Oops....I left the hood up...someone might actually think I'm working.

Re: What are you getting done this weekend????

I'm finishing up a trailer to put a welding bed on and set my welder on so I'll have a mobile rig for field work. Just got the trailer hitch welded up on the frame today. The welder ran out of gas so tomorrow I'll fill it back up and finish up some welds, install the jack and safety chains, and it'll be ready to pull except for the lights and it needs a license plate, that's gonna be fun. Once I get a dually I'm gonna put the bed on there and carry the oxy/acetylene cylinders, tools, etc on the truck and the welder will be on a small trailer(it's a big welder, weights about 2000?lbs). Here's the bed, got it for $100! It's in good shape, just has a small section of a toolbox rusted out, other than that it just needs to be cleaned out, all the lights re-wired, and put a new coat of paint on it.

Found a company that does rear discs brake conversions for 3/4 tons. That I think is worth an honorable mention at least. http://www.tsmmfg.com/

Re: What are you getting done this weekend????

Hit up a car show at Stone Mountain today, saw some really cool stuff, in particular a '68 Suburban and a '70 stepside. The burb was a pretty cool custom, had a T56 in it as well.

Headed down to Florida tomorrow for spring break, definitely ready for the week off and relaxation, hopefully I won't be a candidate for skin cancer when I come back.
