Re: Tranny swap questions
200R4 is as close to a bolt in replacement as you'll find.

Re: Tranny swap questions
Just type 2004r in the search box at the top of the page your post is on and click go. Then after you've read about a hundred posts go back and type 700r4 in the same box and you can read a bunch more.

Re: Tranny swap questions
I plan on putting a 4l60 in my truck. It is slightly longer than the current TH400 in it, but I'll get it mounted up. I'm not sure about the relation between the 350 and 400, but I have an article about swapping a TH400 for a 4l60. http://superchevy.com/technical/engi...9sc_overdrive/

Re: Tranny swap questions
I have swapped in an L31 (5.7 Vortec from 99 Burb) and 4L60E. The trans bolted in after moving the Xmember to the back holes in the chassis, so basically a bolt in affair....

I have put on about 2000 miles on the conversion so far. I have had to replace the tranny (Damn weak a$$ POS 4L60s) already (the donor had 70k miles on it). Other than that the truck runs beautifully. Tim

Re: Tranny swap questions
I bought a remanufactured tranny from Monster Transmissions in Florida. It has some upgrades in it
http://racetransmissions.com/store/p...roducts_id/188 I don't tow much. Every once in a while, and every once in a while I will load the bed, but generally just driving around. I got the tranny for $1100 including new TC and shipping. I figured it was worth a shot. I don't know if the original tranny was maybe hurt in the accident that the donor was in, but after about 500 miles into the conversion it started howling and searching for gear when in OD. Hopefully this new one will last another 80-100k miles. So far it seems to be very nice. Very firm 1-2 shift. I run a large cooler in front of the radiator. It is the largest RV one I could find. I have since remounted it so it looks a good deal neater. With the 245/75-16 tires and the 4.11:1 rear, I cruise at about 2100 at 75 MPH. I am thinking about putting in a 3:5x:1 to pull the rpms down even more. Tim

Re: Tranny swap questions
I'm impressed with those numbers. Does it downshift a lot for passing/hills?
