The speedo cable connects on the left, the unit connects to the tranny. It leaks fluid- other than that I'm not sure what it does- do I need it? THANKS!!

Re: What is this?
that is a gear reduction unit.. used to callibrate speedos.. instead of changing the gears inside the trans.. it is not a required piece.. but your speedometer will read differently.. you can change the gear inside the trans for your requirements

Re: What is this?
Thats a reduction / acceleration box. Its whats making your speedometer accurate, and yeah, you do need it.
