Cool what do i gotta do!!!

Was wondering if anyone could help me i am using a motor from and 1984 and didn't know what all i will have to do to make it run with the electrical like the distribitor and stuff but i am make my 1962 a basic truck no ac or extras just the basic stuff that it needs to run any help will be appricated thanks

If the engine is using a simple carb and HEI setup, you'll have to tweak the throttle cable setup, replace the points-type distributor wire with a regular wire, and convert your generator wiring to an alternator.

All of these things have been talked about in great detail here. Feel free to use the search tool to do some research, and ask more questions if you don't see what you need.

If you are replacing a V8 you can use the old points dist. If you want the HEI run a switched hot lead to the pink dist. wire or Batt. terminal. Got to library and get an electrical diagram for the newer motor this will help in adapting the the charging system or get a one wire alternator.
