Should be on the 73-87 forum but it has hardly anybody on it.I found a wrecked 78 I am going to buy and part and it has "tow hooks" Anybody know
how many 78 4x4 1/2 short fleets came with hooks?I want a set of hooks but not going to pay $400 for them so are they similiar to 67-72 hooks?

Re: Tow hooks

I think quite a few 73-87s had hooks on them. They are not worth as much and don't look the same. I think you can buy them on e-bay for $50 and less. Hope this helps...

THEY ARE VERY USABLE TOW HOOKS, & YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PICK EM UP FOR $15 OR $20. IT SURE BEATS WRAPPING A LOG CHAIN AROUND $500 TOW HOOKS. JOHN

Re: Tow hooks

Did the hook design change in`73 along with the rest of the truck?Or,did the newer round-stock ones come a few years later?

Re: Tow hooks

They are a just a hook, no bends inwards or outwards, about 1 1/4 diameter. 73-80 had this style. You can find them around here for $10-$15 a pair.

Re: Tow hooks

Found this item on eBay, never figured out how to do a link but these are the 73-80 style tow hooks in question. They are really some stout, beefy hooks but totally differant from the 67-72 styles.
eBay item # 4628907188 6 Days plus on time remaining
$9.99 with no bids last I looked.
Hope this helps. I see them from time to time at a few of the local yards. Changed styles again in '81 up thru '87 trucks and into '91 on the 'Burbs.

Good Luck !!
