This code is on the glove box door as an option ( 1Q14ae L78-15-B Highway BB) anybody know what it is?

According to people in this thread, it has to do with the tires on it originally.

L 78 B L 78 is the size of tire B I think is the load Range. like A is 2000 pounds B is 6000 pound Range, numbers are hypothetical but not far off for Load Range. just my .02%

Isn't "BB" = Belted Bias Ply tires ?

You are correct.

Seems we have been with the metric tire sizing forever. Then I see these questons and gets me backto my youthful days.

I remember when the letter sizng was first getting big. They were still trying to force it on us in the mid 70's. Of course I loved my Mickey Thompons N50 x14s. About the time we all got use to it, we went with those new fangled metrics

It`s funny,it tells you exactly what the option is in this case.But,tire sizing has changed over the years so much that most don`t know what they`re looking at.L78s are the largest size available in that series.No factory radials back then,all Bias Belt.Back then,all vehicles except some muscle cars came with 78 series with 60 & 70 series being the aftermarket "fatties".Firestone made "Wide Ovals" that came on alot of muscle machines.Uniroyal "Tiger Paws" were another and I can`t even remember what Goodyear had.
The 16.5s came out in this era to provide a Wide Oval-type truck tire which is why you could get 16.5s on a 1/2t.Nowadays they have it so buggered-up,I don`t pay any attention to it.They can`t make 16.5s,but they can come out with umpteen other "new" diameters in umpteen profiles to make a mess for themselves and you need a course in tire sizing to even know what all your choices are.
