Coolant leak and no heat
I noticed the coolant in the resevoir going down slowly. When I turn my heater on its warm for 5 seconds and then just has no heat to it. Is my heater core bad?

sounds like your heater core is leaking to me.

your heater isn't working becoue of the low coolant level.
Top it off, run the engine, and check for heat. You do still need to locate the coolant leak, if it's the heater core or what ever. |

You may have a bad water pump or thermostat or other clog in the coolant system,whatever, but your problem is no circulation equals no heat in the heater core. The loss of coolant might be caused by pressure blowing it out the overflow because of the lack of circulation causing it to overheat in the radiator and boil over. These things should be fairly obvious soon. Good luck.

hook up a coolant leak pressure tester to the radiator cap, then pump up the pressure and you should find out where you leak is coming from, if it isn't visable and you have done like others say then it is probably your heater core

If the heater core is leaking, you'll probably smell coolant and have moisture inside the windshield. Have you found the source of the leak? Maybe there's just air in the system -- which can also cause loss of heat from the heater.
