Door speakers without cutting?
My doors are in good shape and I want to put a 5.25" speaker in the door without cutting. I can build a door panel that has a slight build out for the speaker, but I wanted to see some others before I settle on a design. My '69 has no arm rests, so I want to add a rest, maybe change the handles, and add the speaker within the small door panel.
Did '69 come with an optional carpet kick at the bottom, or is that only newer trucks? Post some pics, thanks. |

Re: Door speakers without cutting?
The only problem I see would be the window. Make sure it will still roll up and down once you get it all set up.

Re: Door speakers without cutting?
If I put it in the lower front corner where the vent window is, there should be plenty of room. If my doors weren't so nice, I would just do a lower panel build out, but it would be a shame to cut up a nice door.

Re: Door speakers without cutting?
If you had a 72, I got some door panels that already have a speaker hole cut out under the arm rest that would work great.

Re: Door speakers without cutting?
You could try some of these universal Q-Forms speaker pods. They are made for kick panels, but would prolly work on doors too, if there was enough flat space to mount them to, however they might interfere with the door closing though. These are from Crutchfield, but you can prolly find them on ebay for a lot less.

Re: Door speakers without cutting?
I will be building my own speaker pods for the doors and the kick panels, I just wanted to see if anyone had done something like this. All the custom door panels I see for our trucks are full panels, I want to keep the small panel and maybe do a carpet kick pad at the bottom.
I have done a lot of custom door panels in the past, I just wanted to see what others might have done. |
