A step for my short fleetside(not about beds)

I took a step on my`72 Custom/10 short fleet 2 option truck(gauges & stabilizer)which has sat with an engine crane hooked to the 250 for one year now.Actually,I`ve unhooked it twice to use then put it back.Well,it`s not about that either....
I bought a set of 8x15 5-lug OEM-types from Uncle last year.I finally dropped them off yesterday to be powdercoated red after blasting them the night before. The plan is to run the full wheelcovers and narrow whitewalls in a low/wide tire from Diamondback Classics, lower the truck some,4spd M20,3.40 posi, flat white/blue interior, fit the snap-on white tonneau cover from my old CustomCamper(old/`88 but still in goodshape),and SS454 tips. This is a budget/resto rod, except not resto-ed.
I`ll post pictures when I get the wheels back.

Re: A step for my short fleetside(not about beds)

That hood is for a far-off project(louvered 67/68).That`ll go on a`67 GMC Stepside street rod I`m accumulating parts for.It started with a rustfree clip with a nice chrome grille I bought at Carlisle. It`s complete with the verticle "Custom" badges and this was before any GMC grilles were reproduced($275).I bought a nice Stepside bed that day,too($300).I`ve come across a n.o.s. GMC tailgate($150).All I had to do is find a frame/title...little things like that so these parts could become a truck.I plan for this one to have roll pans,tubbed,Dana/60,Polished TTIIs,roll`n`pleat utility buckets, and a nasty big block.I`m thinking black cherry/black interior.
Meanwhile,I got this running,funky`72 short bed in trade when I sold my`68 50th wannabee.I was driving it around, then I started swapping the 350/TH350 from my old`71 CustomCamper, but I just gotta do a 4-on-floor.Once I get that done,I`ll be able to drive it.My goal is to have it lowered, drivetrain swapped, and wheels`n`tires on this summer so I can start beatin`around in it.Someday I`ll have "Beauty and The Beast" shortbeds. The beast will be the pretty one and the mild one will be the rat.

That stepside sounds like a winner to me! How nasty is that BB gonna be for you to need that dana? I always liked the TTII's but have since found a slight different wheel by KMC

I am hoping to have mine on the road (fingers crossed) in two weeks, lots of new little goodies, like roll pans, tubbed, wider tires, Full MSD ignition, mighty demon back from Barry Grant recalibrating and fixing issues, all new exhaust-full 3" mandrel bent, X-Pipe setup, gonna let that 427 small block breath.. Frames done, hopefully this weekend get the fuel lines/brake lines run and possibly the cab back on it, just got done the power steering/motor/trans/rearend all in, its gonna be a looker.. First time on Dyno already pushed 392RWHP and 412RWTQ with a restricted exhaust, issues with carb and ignition, hoping to see 435RWHP and about 450RWTQ.

Hopefully just enough to beat Allan`s 427 mouse by a fender.LOL
I`m a fan of mighty mouses and after seeing this one run,I may go that route.A friend in Florida has a`66 notch-top Nova with a full-tilt 427 SBC.That was a screamin`motor!!I just wanted a fat motor for once and want that "stuffed" look.If I go big block,it will be an oversized one.Mark Williams makes the 5-lug outers to fit a Dana60.I`ll start with a C/20 coil-rear version.Probably make struts w/coil-overs.

Hey Bowtie,sounds great.Looking forward to see/hear/feel it.

I'm just hoping with the new rear suspension work, wider/taller tires, moving battery/fueltank and adding a little extra weight to the rear I can make this hookup a little better. Its fun smking the tires while rolling but a PIA when all you want to do is pass someone and the truck goes sidesways with just a little throttle..
