One piece windows - difficult to roll up and down

The PO put single windows on my 70 and they're a real PITA to roll up and down. I have to grab the back of the window to keep it straight and it's still not easy. Being that I've never even looked at windows or the system before, what should I look for when trying to diagnose the problem? I've got to take my door panel off to replace the locking mechanism so I thought I'd look into this also

You might want to apply some type of lube in the tracks of the regulator where the little plastic wheel runs along those guides (assuming that this is an actual one-piece kit and not some home-made creation. It might be dragging and causing the window to tilt. Just a thought.

I kinda struggle with mine a bit too but I believe I've isolated the problem to be the after-market regulator. It has actually gotten easier over time though....

If it is hard to roll up/down when the door is closed, you will probably need to take off the hinge or door and grind down the door stop check link. It contacts and pushes in on the front glass channel. I did mine per the crappy instructions that were sent with the kit, and I still didn't grind enough. As for them falling out of the track, that seems to be a common complaint with these. I haven't put in the weatherstrip yet, so I can't comment on that personally.

I put one piece windows in a VW beetle I used to have. ( I know, totally differnt animal,, or insect,,whatever ) The instructions were definatly not as good as they could have been. So I had to didle with things a bit, swore lots, lubed the regulators, wresteled with the window channels, got my arm stuck a few times, skinned every knuckle and tweeked a few things to get them to work good. It took a few times taking the whole works apart before they worked smooth. Eventually they worked pretty good, but never really Great. Still, I really want them in my truck. Good luck to ya .
