I just got a new HEI dizzy, and the little cap was off of the vaccum advance and some cardboard fuzz/lint from the packing got stuck in the hole.

Well I tried getting it out with a paper clip and I managed to have it fall into the vaccum(sp?) advance.

It was really small but the hole is also pretty small ...so is this little piece of fluff going to cause me any problems? I dont want this thing to come back and plug my line, but I have no idea how to get it out. I don't think I can ..

Like I say it was just a little fluffy piece of cardboard in that little hole.

Darn it !

Have you tried sucking on the vac advance? That is the only way that I could possibly think of to get it out.

I think you will be fine. But...whenever you have a problem you will think about that little cardboard/fuzz piece and think it's causing the problem, even though it probably isn't.

I know it seems goofy, but I've had little dumb things cause me big problems in the past.
My Ex wife for example....

try adapting your shop vac to it. don't make it fit to tight. use some kind if rag or screen in adapter so you can see if it comes out

take a brake bleeder tool or vacuum pressure tester, hook it up to the end and pump up the tool, this should create a vacuum and suck the fluff out

Hey thanks for the idea's

I thinks I'll try the tester first, cause I think I'll be able to see it if it comes out, then break out the big guns (shop vac) maybe figure some filter on it so I can see if it's out.

Rage n Rat I might just send it to you...it wouldn't be the first time something became junk after I "fixed" it

I assume that those units have a diaphragm in them. Too much vaccuum or pressure may damage it. Also sucking on the tube may not create enough air flow to fraw the debris out without providing a way for fresh air to get in. I suggest sucking it out with a tube smaller than the inside diameter of the vaccuum tube, such as the straw from a spray oil can, or maybe a clean syringe for injecting glues.

I was thinking of using a basketball pump, you know the little needle thing and using my compressor and trying to blow it out but I dont know if it might be too much pressure. I dont have a manual one.

How about unhooking the link inside the dizzy and pushing the link in and out creating pressure from the diaphragm to force the piece out?
